Google Earth 3D imagery app for the iPad and iPhone is now available. If anyone of you use the iPad 2 or iPhone 4S or have the current iPod Touch then you can jet set around the world through detailed landscapes in 3D glory like the one in the picture of downtown Los Angeles, California.
Android users have been using this feature for while since June but Google made the app available for Apple devices on Thursday.
Talking about maps, Google creates them by chartering planes the take aerial images of each street and building in major cities from various angles, according to The Times.
At the moment, twelve cities in the US got Googleâs Earth 3D map touch which includes Los Angeles, Boston, Charlotte, N.C, Boulder, Colorado, the San Francisco Bay Area, and Portland, Oregon and so on.
Google is planning to develop and release 3D maps for new cities now and then and by year end, the company expects to cover the metro areas with total populations of 300 million people, it posted in a blog on Thursday when it released 3D imagery for iOS devices.
With the help of the “tour guide” feature that hints interesting places on iOS devices on Google Earth to poke on.
The tour guide can be found in all iOS devices that run iOS versions 4.2 and later.
