According to analyst Gene Munster of Piper Jaffray, the iPad Air is all set for record sales in its opening weekend, surpassing the achievements of the its predecessor iPad 4 and the first generation iPad mini in last year.
Last year the Cupertino-based company launched two tablets and sold around 3 million units. But Mr. Gene said that this year, sales figures of the iPad Air alone will be in the range of 2.5- 3.5 million units. We will get the official numbers, when Apple releases its official press statement, but we can safely that the performance is going to be impressive.
Of course, we should keep in mind that the iPad Air was launched in more countries than the iPad 4. The iPad Air went on sale in 52 countries, whereas the iPad 4 was initially available in 27 countries.
Apple announced the iPad Air alongside the iPad mini 2 in Oct. 22. The iPad Air went on sale in Nov. 1, but the iPad mini 2 won’t be available until the end of this month.
